‘Fright night’ – Natalie Sawyer gives good news and bad news in West Ham-Aston Villa prediction

West Ham News

Natalie Sawyers claims that there will be a “fright” for the defences of both teams today, but the talkSPORT host says West Ham will come out on top against Aston Villa.

West Ham travel to Villa Park with the hope that even a draw will keep them level with third-placed Manchester City on 20 points in the EPL, and only a miserly five points behind table toppers Chelsea.

Aston Villa though, are in a bad patch, having lost their last three games, and a big defeat could see them fall to 16th despite a summer of heavy spending.

While Sawyer says that the competition between the two teams will be close, she predicts West Ham come out on top with a hard fought victory. She said on Boyle Sports Twitter account:

“I think it’s going to be a difficult, difficult day for Villa…I do think both teams will get on the scoresheet, I think it will be a bit of a fright night… for both defences as well….I just think West Ham might have a bit too much for Villa and come away with the victory in this one.”

Reasons To Believe

West Ham have good reasons to feel that they are well positioned today, especially with last season’s matches in mind.

The Hammers beat Villa both times in the 2020/21 campaign, with the 3-1 success at Villa Park in February the best of the two as Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard took no prisoners with a second-half brace after Tomas Soucek started the rout.

Villa have now lost Jack Grealish after his £100million move to Manchester City, and ex Norwich player Emiliano Buendia has yet to find his feet, registering only one goal in seven EPL matches to date.

Despite this, David Moyes won’t be taking anything for granted, especially after the Villains went down to Arsenal last week.
